  2. When you’re ready to color, squeeze the Color-Enhancing Colorant (#1) into the Color Activating Créme (#2). Shake it!
  3. Apply color to dry hair from root to tip. Set timer for 10 minutes (or 15 for stubborn grays).
  4. Rinse until water runs clear and condition. Save the remaining conditioner to use once a week for 6 weeks.
  5. Refresh your color after 2 weeks using the Week 2 Color Refresher.

INGREDIENTS

The Science & Ingredients

Our ammonia-free Natural Instincts system with coconut oil nourishes and protects your hair with clinically proven healthier color*. The antioxidant properties prevent the formation of highly reactive, damaging molecules by helping to inactivate the metal ions that cause their formation. This leads to hair color that’s actually healthier-looking than before you colored!

Much redder than box photo!

I used shade 6.5R/16, LIGHT AUBURN SPICED TEA. I was coloring my medium gold auburn hair. I thought I had found my color at last, but when I went in natural light, I saw that the shade is very red, with more orangy highlights than I wanted or were on the box photo. Clairol needs to re-photograph the color on the box. I do like that it's not harsh on your hair, and does not smell like more permanent color. I am now in search ( once again) for a shade that is medium red that is not orange. I may try a reddish brown next. I really wish the photos on the boxes were more accurate. Also, the questions they require you to answer after your review do not have enough choices as far as starting color, ending color you wish to achieve and texture of hair. This whole questionnaire needs revamping.

Yes, I recommend this product.

This is a good stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This color comes out perfect on my hair and I LOVE it! I love, love, love this color! I have tried other hair color products and I have to say this is by far the best on the market. This one doesn't burn my head and it smells really good too. I recommend this to anyone who wants to color [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Been using this dye for almost 20 years now.

I've been dying my hair since I was 16 because I really don't love my natural haircolor. Since my mom insisted I not use a permanent dye, I picked up Natural Instincts. I've tried other dyes every once in a while, but none compared to the quality of what I'm used to with this brand. I like that when it fades/grows out, I get a natural soft fade instead of harsh line at my roots, and when it fades everywhere else it's just a rich deep brown highlight. That said, the coverage is fantastic, I'm just a bit lax when it comes to upkeep. I've been using the same color for about 20 years now, and the only way I'll stop is if they discontinue it. I started going gray in my early 20s and it worked great at covering that up as well. I also really appreciate that unlike almost every other beauty product I've loved and used throughout the years, they're one of the few that's never reformulated it to give it a new weird smell. Thank you Clairol!

Great civerage. I was concerned about the harshness of home dye. But it seems so gentle. Left my hair feeling amazing. Really love the colour.

The perfect solution!

After dying my hair red for about a year with various permanent dyes, I decided to get back to my natural color, which is a dark blonde/very light brown. Didn't want to just cut it short and grow out the color, because my hair grows very slowly. It has been a process -- vitamin c treatments to remove some of the red pigment, bleach, ash dyes applied in attempt tone down the orange. I had managed a decent color, light blonde in parts and a slightly darker, more strawberry blonde underneath -- lighter than my natural color. Natural Instincts in 7 (Dark Blonde) covered my bleached hair PERFECTLY. The color is pretty close to my natural shade and it turned out so evenly, despite the fact that there was sort of a mish-mash of shades left behind after bleaching. A Godsend! For anyone going through a similar process, Natural Instincts is THE best drugstore product for the final step. This will blend with my roots very well and I can touch it up as needed without worrying about too much damage. (For the record, I applied it to damp hair and left it on for 12 minutes after a strand test.)

This basically turned my hair jet black! Hair was silky after usage though, didn't notice any damage. Some places were still uneven, so I recommend using a generous amount. Smell isn't completely terrible but it is strong.

Love it!

I chose this color because I have natural red tones in my hair already. I Loved the color on the box and I know, you are not supposed to think that your hair will turn out the same as on the box, but, IT DID! I was honestly shocked. I loved how the smell did not over power me. I love that it only took 10 minutes to color. I love that my hair is soft and doesn't feel like I have just colored it. I do not have any negatives about this product and I would recommend it to anyone who is busy and looking for fast beautiful color.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Wonderful hair color

I received the Clairol Natural Instincts for free from Clairol, I Love this Product. It looks very natural on my hair and I would have washed my hair 10 times and it looks amazing. I would definitely buy this product again and recommend everyone to try this. I have spoken to my friends and family about this and they are all interested to try this product.
