Coloring your hair can be like creating a work of art. You choose your colors carefully, add the right
amount of dimension, and your finished work could very well be a masterpiece. Clairol Global
Colorist Marcy Cana's 3D Color technique adds the perfect, subtle hint of dimension to color. Not
big on painting? No worries! We've created a step-by-step guide to ensure coloring is easy as a
paint-by-number while still looking like a masterpiece! Just don't go all Picasso on us!
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
1 / Select your Root Touch-Up shade. Check! Hint: If your hair is naturally dark or medium brown, pick a medium blonde. If it's light to medium blonde or you frequently color with a
medium brown shade or darker, try an extra light blonde shade.
2 / Mix the hair color according to the package directions.
3 / Divide your hair into four even sections. Gather the front two sections into a half-up 'do and clip in place.
4 / Now, paint 8 streaks (each about 2 inches apart) on the sections of your hair not pulled back.
5 / Take down the front pieces. Paint 6-8 streaks along your natural part, starting about 2 inches above the ear.
6 / Let the color sit for 10 minutes, then rinse, wash, and style.
7 / If you want something more dramatic, you could add this optional step or try next time: use Nice'n Easy Hairpainting Kit for an added pop of color around the face.
